Waves Wash Sand From Beneath Pt Dume Beach Access Road

Malibu beaches have taken some big hits … from the big waves and high tides of the past three nights.
Erosion and unusual wave patterns and eddies … reported up and down the coast.
There was severe sand scour at the eastern end of Zuma Beach … and Point Dume State Beach took it particularly hard.
The road that goes from Westward Beach down to the Planet Of the Apes rocks took it hard.
The beach level there dropped four or five feet … and in one place… the road pavement was undermined.
A state front end loader was spotted shoveling sand back under the road yesterday.
We don’t have any other reports of actual damage .,.. but the beaches got pretty battered.
