As for the count so far … it was a stunning defeat for former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa …as Gavin Newsom and Republican John Cox win the top two spots to face off int h California gubernatorial race.
Last night … Villaraigosa blamed the election snafu in Los Angeles County for his dismal showing.

“I think you know that about 118,00 people showed up at the polls and we’re on the voter list.
And so we are going to have to ferret that out, we are going to have to figure that out.”
But of the votes counted in L-A County … Villaraigosa got just 22 point 5 percent of the local vote.
And later in the evening … Villaraigosa conceded and endorsed Newsom. The President of the United States has just sent a Tweet … about last night’s California election.
“Great night for Republicans! “Congratulations to John Cox on a really big number in California.
“He can win.
“Even Fake News CNN said the Trump impact was really big, much bigger than they ever thought possible.
“So much for the big Blue Wave, it may be a big Red Wave.”

Gavin Newsom … the Democratic candidate for governor …. just tweeted back:
“Please come campaign for him as much as possible” he implored to the president.
