Topanga Cyn Closed All Weekend – Watch For Cars Shooting Out Of Tuna Canyon

Caltrans is planning a 55-hour full closure of Topanga Canyon Blvd between Malibu and Topanga this weekend.
Another emergency repair project.
This time … an eroded slope embankment along Topanga Creek needs to be shored up below the highway.
The hillside had multiple rock and debris slides this year, triggering full closures of the highway for days.
The road will close at 10 tonight . and is scheduled to reopen Monday, April 1, at 5 a.m.,
The road … Highway 27 … is closed from the beach up to Grand View Drive … at the lower end of the village.
Businesses in Topanga remain open.
Malibu Canyon Road is the posted detour,.
But Waze and other apps will no doubt drive hundreds of cars to use little .,.. steep and twisting Tuna Canyon Road as a short cut.
Crashes have happened under similar traffic loads.
And you can expect heavy traffic to come shooting down that alternate route.

The C H P may be stationed at the bottom of Tuna Canyon to prevent left turns onto PCH.
That just leads to a whole bunch of frustrated valley drivers … making U-turns where you least expect it.
