State Crews Are 1/7th Done Demolishing Houses

Nearly 100 residential properties affected by the Woolsey and Hill fires have been cleared by state contractors as of yesterday.
Strike teams are making rapid progress scraping away burned metal, concrete, chimneys, ash and other debris.
Officials with the Debris Removal Operations Center in Calabasas say 82 properties in Los Angeles County have been cleared … plus 14 properties in Ventura County.
Next up for most of the cleared properties is analysis to determine whether the soil samples meet state health and environmental standards.
A lab will test the dirt for contaminants … and if bad stuff is found… crews will return to scrape away another half foot of dirt.
One the lot passes … the state crews will return to perform erosion control measures.
State contractors have now completed 752 site assessments and 656 asbestos surveys in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
KBUU news has yet to hear any complaints from people whose lots have been cleared …. but the internet is full of people who have expressed delight at compassionate treatment … a careful job … and instructions followed by the demolition crews.
