State, County and City All Stress: NO PRICE GOUGING
Written by 991KBU on December 20, 2018
County crews have gone to about half of the destroyed houses in western L-A County …. to remove hazmat materials and issue yellow placards.
L A County fire reports 650 houses have been swept so far.
650 done … 536 to go … and that’s the countywide total … including the Agiura and Calabasas fire victims.
As we’ve reported … a task force led by the county and including experts from the E-P-A and state Department of Toxic Substances Control are working.
They are entering every lot with a destroyed house … using instruments to find lead or other hazardous materials.
The hazmat is boxed and sent to a special dump.
Then .. a yellow placard is issued … allowing demolition permits to be issued.
Nearly all of the houses in Malibu Park and on Point Dume have been surveyed … cleaned of haz mat stuff … and yellow tagged.
Only a few houses in Zuma Canyon have yet to be surveyed.
Work has yet to begin on Trancas Canyon Road or in the hard hit Anacapa View area.
Only a few houses have yellow tags west of Trancas.
Only a few of the houses are yellow tagged on Winding Way West and Murphy Way.
Up Latigo Canyon Road … only half the houses have yellow placard so far.
And the ranches along Mulholland and Decker Canyon are still pretty much on the waiting list … needing hazmat assessment.
