Soho House Promises To Do Better With Parking And Noise – Again

Malibu officials continue to grapple with parking violations and other problems at two very-popular eating establishments near the Malibu Pier.
Soho House and Nobu are clogging P C H … causing noise complaints … and parking their cars illegally off site.
Last night … the city planning commission again heard from SohoHouse…a membership-only restaurant and club that shares a parking lot with Nobu.
Soho’s lawyer .. Kenneth Ehrlich … said his clients are trying … really trying … to comply with the city Coastal user Permit … which has to be reviewed for compliance every 12 months.
One problem … employees are parking down the street at an office building … where the spaces may be committed for coastal visitors.
Commissioner John Mazza last night grilled Soho’s attorney … Kenneth Ehrlich …. about noise complaints.
NEWSCART 75002 QQQQ IT WAS HEARD IT WAS REPORTED
MAZZA: Why did we have all those noise violations?
EHRLICH: “You know, they’re interesting, commissioner.
“The bottom line, and I’ve said this before.
“Our operation screwed up.“The latest example, just so you’re aware, my understanding is that there was an impromptu member who started playing trombone on an on amplified system, and just playing the trombone.
“But it was heard and it was reported.”
Bottom line … Soho House is going to work with the city to apply for permission for limited live music performances … which are currently prohibited.
Also … work on a parking solution that passes muster with the Planning Commission.
The whole matter comes back to the Planning Commission in August.
And the Nobu issue .. much more contentious … comes up later this winter.
