SMC Offers Free Enrollment For Malibu Grads

Santa Monica College is offering free enrollment … and $400 worth of free textbooks to new, full-time students who graduated from a local high schools this year.

The program is called the  “Santa Monica College Promise.”

It is effective immediately for students interested in attending SMC this fall semester, which begins August 26.

Or next spring..

The SMC Promise is available for students who have just graduated from high school in 2018, and be headed straight to SMC as first-year students.

They must also be “full-time”—enrolled in 12 units or more per semester—to be eligible for free enrollment.

Health coverage and I D card costs are picked up by the district.

SMC Promise students will be enrolled in the First Year Experience program—which provides priority registration and dedicated counseling support—to help ease the transition to college.

That program also makes sure students are on the fastest track possible to their four-year school or career of choice.

Students do have to pay their Associated Students fees … but that which unlock benefits ranging from student discounts at select vendors to free passes on the Big Blue Bus lines on the Westside.

And the deal is available to kids who graduate from public or private schools on the Westside … including Malibu.

And it will be too late for this year’s if you’re wondering … construction will start on the Malibu campus for Santa Moncia College this Octoer.

That 25 million dollar campus will replace the old sheriff’s station .. and the Malibu Tow yard … at the Civic Center.
