SM Allows Lime And Bird After All – State May Raise Top Scooter Speed To 35 MPH

Written by on August 31, 2018

In news from up and down the coast … Santa Monica is relenting … and will allow Bird and Line to continue placing electric scooters on the SaMo sidewalks.

The two companies had been frozen out … but the city administration relented and added them to the list of four companies authorized to rent electric scooters in Santa Monica.

The city says Bird and Lime have been working within city rules …. being good corporate citizens …

Both Bird and Lime have been frozen out of San Francisco … which selected two other companies.

Malibu is banning all rental scooters … and they are illegal to ride anywhere on Pacific Coast Highway.

And in Sacramento … the state legislature in a desperate attempt to remain hip … has passed a bill removing helmet requirements for adults riding electric scooters.

And the silent vehicles will now be allowed to travel 35 miles an hour on city streets.

35 miles an hour … and they’re silent.

Good luck pedestrians.

That bill is at the governor’s desk.
