LA Times Reports Sheriff Telling Different Stories About Alleged Bad Cop

Written by on March 8, 2019

Documents reviewed by The Los Angeles Times show that new L A County sheriff Alex Villanueva has not exactly told the straight story … about rehiring a fired deputy who was working as his campaign aide.

The new sheriff has publicly said that the rehiring of Caren Carl Mandoyan was righting a wrong … and that he initiated the review of the firing of Mandoyan in the first week that he took office.

But documents obtained by the LA Times reveal that Vullenueva made the rehiring of his campaign aide a top priority in the days immediately after the election.

The new sheriff said that he would set up a “truth and reconciliation commission” .. a secret panel made up of his key sheriffs department employees.

It would review several cases of deputies fired for alleged misconduct … but that the sheriff said had actually been railroaded out of the department on false charges.

The L-A Times has also dug up the findings from the new sheriff’s review commission … which reviewed the Mandoyan case.

It found that Mandoyan acted irrationally by repeatedly tapping on the door of a female deputy’s house … and opening her window.

The female depiuty says Mandoyan was inside … ripped her jeans … and tried to force himself into her bathroom where she was hiding.

But she quit the department and disappeared after making her complaint … charges were never filed against Mandoyan.

He was fired … and a county personnel board looked at the evidence and upheld the firing.

But the new sheriff’s new so-called truth and conciliation commission could not confirm the woman deputy’s allegations …that Mandoyan had physically abused her.

It did conclude that Mandoyan had brought “discredit to himself and the department.”

All five members of the County Board of Supervisors appear to be on a collision course with the elected sheriff … over his goal to reinstate sheriff’s deputies who had been accused of being bad cops.

They oppose the sheriff’s so-called truth and conciliation commission … which meets secretly and does not disclose its evidence.
