A sexual assault at a Malibu condominium …. a traumatized victim … and complaints that the sheriff’s office botched the case.
A woman awoke to find herself being sexually assaulted in the middle of the night … in a condo on Civic Center Way.
This was 10 days ago.
She reported that she screamed for help … the attacker apologized … and left.
But there are reports that sheriffs deputies took 45 minutes to arrive.
And that they did not believe the victim … or take her complaints seriously.
Condo residents took action … and found security tape showing the attacker in the hallways.
Again … there are allegations that the sheriff’s deputies did not follow up.
And the department did not warn residents until yesterday … more than a week after the attack.
Local activist publisher Cece Woods says she intervened with her friend … sheriff Alex Villanueva … to get the case moving.
Photos of the alleged assailant were issued by the sheriff’s office.
He is 6 feet tall … with a beard … tall and skinny .. about 170 pounds.
He appeared to be a transient.
