KBUU News Exclusive:  Seetoo Wins Lawsuit Against Villanueva For Sex Discrimination

Disgraced former sheriff Alex Villanueva has lost another lawsuit … this one filed by one of the department’s highest-ranking female officials. 

Malibu-Lost Hills Captain Jennifer Seetoo won a $971,000 judgment, when a Los Angeles jury deliberated less than an hour and decided against the one-time sheriff … some top aides … and the county itself.

The jury agreed with all of Seetoo’s complaints, that she charged the sheriff with directing a vicious and cynical attack on her …  blocking her from the opportunity to talk tests for a promotion to captain.

Villanueva directed his top brass to demote her twice … and one time was given “freeway punishment” … transferred from Malibu to West Hollywood.

Villanueva belittled her …  criticized her success responding to fires during the most critical part of fire season.

The lawsuit also successfully proved that Villanueva spread false rumors … the Seetoo was having an inappropriate relationship with one of the city managers in west LA County that hires the department as a police agency.

The suit also claimed that Villanueva has repeatedly promoted his male friends, applied more favorable standards to male employees than females generally, and made disparaging comments about women within the sheriffs department and to the news media.

Seetoo says some of her judgment money will be donated to a foundation to help young women become sheriff’s deputies.

Villanueva has in the past refused to comment … we have a request in to the ex-sheriff.

He is currently running a gym in a strip mall in Whittier … appearing frequently on right wing TV and radio …and running a long-shot campaign to oust Holly Mitchell from the LA County Board of Supervisors. 

It appears that Villanueva will not have to pay any of the penalties … or if the country taxpayers will be stuck for his misbehavior.
