Round Up has lost another court case.
A federal court jury in San Francisco unanimously agreed yesterday that Roundup caused a man’s cancer.
This … according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Five days of deliberations led to a unanimous conclusion that the glyphosate-based herbicide was a “substantial factor” in causing non-Hodgkins lymphoma in Edwin Hardeman, a 70-year-old Sonoma County man.
This was the second time that a U S jury found a connection between the herbicide’s key ingredient, glyphosate, and the disease.
In the first case, jurors awarded the plaintiff $289 million.
But the judge later slashed the damages payout to $78 million.
The German pharmaceutical and chemical giant Bayer sells RoundUp.
In a statement Tuesday, the company said it is disappointed with the jury’s decision “but we continue to believe firmly that the science confirms glyphosate-based herbicides do not cause cancer.”
More than 750 cases Roundup cases against Bayer have been consolidated in San Francisco’s federal court.
