Sheriff’s deputies went door to door last night … warning about 200 Malibu residences that they were in mandatory evacuation areas effective 8 a-m this morning
And this storm is bigger and a little earlier than predicted last night.
The timing of the flash flood watches …. now given as midday.
Overall, the intensity of the storm system has increased … as it is more vigorous than originally predicted,.
Rainfall amounts possible for Malibu …. up to 4 inches.
But heavier rain is possible.
The big worry is that rainfall rates up to between three quarters and inch and 1.25 inches are possible with the heaviest rainfall.
Rain will fall late into tonight and into Wednesday.
But the rain will taper off to showers between late this evening and early Wednesday, so there is likely a break in the wet weather pattern for about 9 to 18 hours or so.
A much more moist air mass spreads into the area with another storm system.
Heavy rain is possible again Thursday and Friday.
Sun on Saturday.
But another … weak storm arrives Sunday … according to the long range forecast.
——
Schools are cancelled at Malibu’s 4 public school campuses.
Word went out about that at 8 o’clock last night … shortly after the sheriff announced the mandatory evacuations for some parts of the Woolsey Fire area.
A Red Cross shelter will be open at 9 in the morning at the South Gym at Santa Monica High School, 601 Pico Blvd, Santa Monica.
Large animals can be taken to Pierce College … just north of the 101 Freeway at Winnetka Avenue in the western part of the San Fernando Valley.
Or… they can be taken to the large horse facility at Hansen Dam … off the 210 freeway in Lake View Terrace. in the east San Fernando Valley…
People who are told to evacuate may take small animals to the Agoura Animal Care Center, 29525 Agoura Road. The Red Cross Shelter at Santa Monica High school will accept small animals in crates or cages. Large animals may go to Pierce College.
