Today will be one for the record books.
Almost all … if not all of the daily heat records across Southern California will fall today … the National Weather Service says.
It is possible that 1 or 2 all time records will be made today in Southern California.
The winds and heat
It was hit or miss this morning at 6.
It was calm and 66 degrees this morning in western Malibu.
But at the fire camp at upper Las Flores … 93 degrees and 17 mile per hour winds out of the desert.
At 3 this morning … the temperature near Santa Barbara was 98 degrees.
But by 6 … the coastal flow there had battled back … and it was 67 there.
It’s going to be like that all along the Malibu coast this morning … but the heat will eventually push the ocean air out.
Record heat likely along the coast … with highs of 96 in Santa Monica to 106 at downtown Los Angeles.
The forecast high for Woodland Hills and Calabasas today … 117.
And Red Flag Warnings are up for the mountains above Malibu.
Hit and miss winds from the north of 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.
Peak winds expected Friday morning into Saturday morning.
The state power agency says there is no electric shortage.
And Southern California Edison has not issued any power blackout warnings due to the wind.
