And looping back to the coastal commission meeting happening over in Santa Cruz…. special attention is being paid tor Malibu.

Commission executive Jack Ainsworth told the coastal commission yesterday that he and other key staff took a field trip to Malibu.

Where they met with M R C A officials in Malibu.

“We also took the opportunity to visit the Broad Beach sand replenishment and revetment project.

“We toured a couple public accessways: the Malibu East Road Public Accessway and the Carbon Beach Public Accessway …

“And I really want to thank our agency partners who participated in the site visits: including staff from State Parks, M R C A staff, Coastal Conservancy staff, and the City of Malibu staff.”

Coastal commission executive director Jack Ainsworth … describing perhaps a new era of cooperation between the city of Malibu and the state agencies that overlap and envelope us.

Clearly however … the Puerco Canyon Campground and the $4 million in coastal commission funds being steered to … may test that openness and perestroika.
