Planners Say They Are Fast Tracking Home Permits

Planners at City Hall say they are fast-tracking plans to rebuild houses that were destroyed by the Woolsey Fire.

Assistant planner Richard Mollica addressed the city planning commission this week … and said progress is being made approving replacement houses that basically match what was there before the fire.

MOLLICA COMM QQQ: ISSUE AN APPROVAL

“For for in-kind replacements…  that would be the planning verification application …

It 16 application have been submitted and 16 applications have been approved.

“All people need to do is come and visit our fire revealed counter during regular business hours, there is a planner there during regular business hours.

“What we do is you don’t need an appointment, you can walk in and if you have everything together, and some folks have done this where they got plans permits or whatever just show proof of the structure, we’ve taken it right then and there to issue an approval.”

In addition… the city has received 13 applications to place temporary houses on burned lots so far.

All 13 have been approved.

And the city Planning Department now has received the L A County Assessor’s property tax records … meaning a landowner does not have to trek to downtown L-A to get the tax records.

That’s important for people trying to prove what was on their land before the fire … as they try to get permits to rebuild,

Earlier this week … we told you that the controversial Malibu Beach Inn swimming pool in its parking lot would be up for consideration this week at the Planning Commission.

That matter has been postponed until March 4th.
