Nobu Makes Another Appearance Before Planning Commission Tonight

Written by on June 17, 2019

Nobu restaurant and its flagrant violations of Malibu zoning ordinances go back before the Malibu Planning Commission tonight.

The restaurant’s valets continue to clog Pacific Coast Highway … with cross traffic.

It’s employees continue to take up precious parking places at Billionaire’s Beach …

Both … not allowed under the city’s Coastal Use Permit… according to city staff.

City staff and Nobu’s lawyers have supposedly been negotiating … coming to come up with a workable plan that does not violate the city’s rules.

Also,,, the city does not want to set a precedent in allowing Nobu to spread its business across Pacific Coast Highway … a precedent that the Malibu Beach Inn says is allowing it to move its parking lot across P C H as well.

The Nobu restaurant operator has now been given a drop dead warning.

Solve this by early August.

Or else … the city will start revocation hearings … to yank the permit for the restaurant.

The restaurant’s lawyer claims Nobu is not in violation of any provision of the Coastal Use Permit

Unless there is an agreement made between Nobu and city staff … Malibu’s planning commission will meet in August to set a revocation hearing for Nobu’s conditional use permit.

Tonight … they will hear an update on those talks.

The question at hand … has Nobu applied for a new Conditional Use Permit … as demanded by the Commissioners earlier this month.

The Malibu Planning Commission meets tonight at 6:30 at City Hall.
