Malibu voters face a 195 million dollar Bond issue on the November Ballot … and there is no organized opposition this year.
No person filed any statement for the ballot … opposing the bond question.
Measure M is viewed as a make or break item … as Malibu strives to set up an independent Malibu school District.
Without independence … Malibu tax money may continue to flow to Santa Monica … and without the bond issue passage … Independence will probably be impossible.
That’s one assessment.
The other assessment is that property values are enhanced with a good school district … meeting that opposition to the bond issue is somewhat blunted.
The Santa Monica city clerks office is in charge of the bond election.
And no … no one from Malibu has sent them a statement opposing the bond issue.

At last nights back to school Night at Malibu high school … parents where reminded that Santa Monica donation subsidies to Malibu kids are ending this year.
In Santa Monica … nearly one thousand parent donors helped raise more than $600,000 for the Santa Monica Education Foundation’s first Santa Monica only back-to-school giving campaign.
They raised a little bit more than that last year … but that total included a smattering of donations from Malibu.
The money raised in Santa Monica this year was topped with a $50,000 matching grant from Bird, the company that fueled the craze for electric scooters,
The shark fund is being assisted by the Santa Monica education foundation as it gets off the ground … raising money from Malibu families for Malibu schools.
Tax money does not pay for arts teachers … field trips or other important educational tools used in schools.
Parent donations … and donations from local corporations … make up the difference
