MRCA Buying More Land Near Malibu Private Streets

The Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority board will vote this week on the purchase of 3 acres of land off upper Rambla Pacifico.
The agency is completing land purchases near L A Fire Department Camp 8 … to build trail from there west into upper Carbon Canyon.
Eventually … this trail will be the Malibu Coast Trail … running roughly along the north city limits of Malibu.
Commission director Joe Edmiston says this piece of land is critical for the trail … because there are few options for the steep hillside.
No price was given.
Rambla Pacifico is a public road … at the trailhead.
But it is linked to P C H by a section of gated … private road …where homeowners rebuilt a public road that was abandoned due to a landslide.
The M R C A of course is enmeshed in bitter disputes and lawsuits elsewhere in Malibu …. over use of private roads.
