Mikke Pierson Removes Kraig Hill From Planning Commission

Kraig Hill has been removed from the Malibu Planning Commissioner by the city council member who appointed him … Mikke Pierson.

“… well previously Mikey had said to me he was concerned that I was asking too many questions in hearings … and being too critical … and that some applicants felt scared facing me because I would ask them hard questions.
“And in that conversation I said ‘well my understanding is that it’s the job of a planning commissioner to ask the hard questions.’”

Those hard questions have come across as nit-picky and overly technical to some in the audience.
The Planning Commission is criticized by some … like newspaper columnist and Realtor Paul Grisanti … as being disruptive … unable to stay between the lines.
But Hill points the finger at city staff … which he says has been too accommodating to people wanting to build things.

“Internal interpretations tend to be more permissive and leaning towards overdevelopment or they run contrary to the rural character that was supposed to maintain and so I’ve seen that happen with things like primary ridgelines, lot line adjustments, ESHA buffers, beachhouse stringlines, neighborhood characters, sea rise, setbacks, a bunch of things.”
Kraig Hill … who was removed from the city Planning Commission by Mikke Pierson.
As for Pierson … he says he was attending city business over the weekend …a sustainability conference in Palm Springs … he says he will explain his actions at tonight’s city council meeting.
