Massive Hotel and Condo Plan For Kanan Road Spurs Protest Plans Tonight at 6:30

A gigantic series of real estate developments … multi-story hotels … apartments and condominiums … is planned for the gateway to the Santa Monica Mountains and Malibu by the city of Agoura Hills.
The massive projects are planned for the corner of Kanan Road at Agoura Road … at the northern entrance to the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
The urban center was designated by an Agoura Hills City Council 13 years ago …. but construction stalled due to the recession of 2008.
Many Agoura Hills residents are frankly horrified by the loss of mountain vies … and traffic congestion at the already jammed Kanan Road at US 101 interchange area.
Save Open Space and other groups are holding a community meeting tonight … at 6:30 … to draw up plans for public opposition to the massive development projects.
The meetings are at 6:30 tonight at the Agoura Bible Fellowship Church … 5564 Foothill Drive … in Agoura Hills.
Proponents call the two developments a needed urban center for Agoura Hills … a city of strip malls.
Opponents call it dangerous … blocking evacuation routes from Malibu … and a desecration of the entrance to the Santa Monica Mountains.
