Malibu Resumes Testing For Any And All Today and Friday – LA County Tests Now Open To Asymptomatic

The City of Malibu resumes COVID 19 nasal tests with its volunteer drive thru effort at Malibu City Hall.

It’s today and tomorrow …. the city volunteers … Sean Penn’s Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE) group and Malibu Medical Group.

The COVID-19 testing is for all community members of the greater Malibu area regardless of symptoms on Thursday, April 30 and Friday, May 1, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Malibu City Hall. Please be in line by 3:00 PM.

“I am proud of the City staff and our partners at CORE and Malibu Medical Group and our volunteers who continue to make this vital testing service possible,” said Mayor Karen Farrer. “We have now conducted nearly 3,000 tests, and widespread testing is one of the key benchmarks that we need to achieve as we battle the coronavirus and look forward to easing the stay at home orders.”

The testing open for anyone in the greater Malibu area including, but not limited to, Pacific Palisades, Topanga, Calabasas, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills and Thousand Oaks, regardless of whether they have COVID-19 symptoms. 

Pre-registration is required on Malibu Medical Group’s website.

However, anyone unable to pre-register online will be registered on-site by the testing staff. To pre-register, visit https://www.malibumedicalgroup.com/contents/covid-19 .The  recommended donation is 60 dollars … but no one will be turned away fopr lack of insurance coverage … or inability to pay.

Testing results from the nearly 3,000 tests conducted at City Hall during the past three weeks have shown that most positive cases were asymptomatic. Therefore it is critical to conduct widespread testing so that the people who have contracted COVID-19

And the massive joint testing effort Any Los Angeles County resident, whether or not they have symptoms, will be able to sign up for a free COVID-19 test, according to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.

“Those with symptoms will of course have the priority, but we have the capacity, I believe, to move forward with that starting tonight,” he said, during his daily briefing Wednesday.

Over the last week, Garcetti and city officials have been gradually opening up testing to different categories of “essential workers,” as public health officials raised more concern that those without symptoms may play a key role in spreading the novel coronavirus.

Online, Garcetti declared that L.A. is now the first major city in America to offer free COVID-19 testing.

“as long as the disease spreads we have to continue to scale.
“And as long as this disease takes lives we must take tests.

“we know that this disease is a silent killer that moves quietly through the population. An a lot of people who have the disease, And this is why it is so deadly, don’t know that they have it. And this illustrates why making testing essential to everyone, even those who don’t know they have it, is essential.”
