Malibu Realtor Wins Jury Trial Over Size of House

Written by on April 6, 2018

Malibu Realtor Chris Cortazzo has won the latest round in his epic battle with a former client … a court fight that has already gone up to the state Supreme Court once.

The Los Angeles Daily News is reporting that a jury in Los Angeles has ruled that Cortazzo did -not- misrepresent the true size of a mega-mansion that he sold to Hong Kong multimillionaire Hiroshi Horiike.

The buyer claimed Cortazzo sold him a hosue that was smaller than promised.

A jury disagreed.

The case has already gone up to the Supreme Court of California …. because Cortazzo represented both the buyer and the seller in this sale.

The case resulted in a new legal rule … that when one brokerage represents both sides of a sales deal … that broker has to carefully protect the interests of both buyer and seller.

That new legal precedent has Realtors treading very carefully when they represent both sides in a deal.

The case then went back to the trial court.

And Cortazzo proved to the jury … he had done exactly that.

An appeal is expected … the L-A Daily News reports.
