Malibu Beach Inn Traffic Jam Plan To City Planners Tonight

A hotel … moving its parking lot across P C H in the heart of the downtown Malibu traffic jam ???
That unlikely prospect goes before Malibu Planning Commission tonight.

The Malibu Beach Inn’s owners are asking for permission to build a swimming pool in their parking lot.

They want after the fact permission for violating city zonign laws … their restaurant is almost twice the size it’s supposed to be.

And it’s only supposed to be open only for Hotel guests … not the general public . wh owould bring in additooal care to park there. …

The hotel wants to solve this … by building doublestack parking lifts across the P C H and down a bit.

They want their valets to add to the traffic jam … by jockeying cars and themselves across the highway … back and forth.

The Planning Commission is expected to reject the proposal … accoridng to insiders at Malibu City Hall.

And lawyers for the Malibu Beach Inn have already made ominous noises about lawsuits. ,… that they may have entitled claims to move acorss the street.

They have claimed that the city and state have already approved half of the plan … by allowing the hotel to pay for a crosswalk and new traffic light that is already being installed.

And then may claim that they have a an entitled right to park across the street … just like the neighbors do at Nobu and soho House.

That operation is held illegal by the city zoning people.
The city attorney is in negotiations over the illegal parking of Nobu cars across the P C H form the business.
