The man accused of using an ax to nearly cut of the arm of a guy defending his kids on a Malibu beach should not have been circvulating in public … says a sheriff’s lieutenant. This came as his boss … the sheriff … criticized other elected Democrats as “a party of white privilege” due to their support of transferring $300 million from the sheriff’s office to civilian homeless outreach efforts.
First, the latest on the machete attack last Sunday morning at Dan Blocker Beach. L A County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Jim Braden told the Malibu Public Safety Commission yesterday that one suspect … Richard Franck had attacked a sheriff’s deputy with a knife last April.
But he was not charged by the district attorney.
Braden says the victim was fishing … with his family … at Dan Blocker beach when Franck menaced the kids at a bathroom.

“This person produced a machete and started attacking towards the kids even.
“And the gentleman lost part of his hand … and had a gaping wound in the shoulder area.”
Franck and an accomplice were arrested inside the bathroom … washing their clothes of blood.
Braden says his office had tried to get Franck charged with assault after he pulled a knife on a deputy at the same beach last April.

“It may come to your dismay that the same person wielding the machete pulled a knife on a deputy in April … (Deputy) Tellez … some of you may know him.
“And this gentleman was arrested on that day also … but the charges were not filed through the district attorney’s office.”
That statement was recorded at last night’s meeting … we have a request for information in with the district attorneys office early this morning.
District Attorney George Gascon has angered sheriff’s deputies … prosecutors and law and order advocates. He has infuriated conservatives by refusing to bring charges on what he considers to be petty crimes. A recall petition is being circulated … they have an October deadline for 600 thousand signatures.
And also Wednesday … L A county sheriff Alex Villanueva said he is a Democrat … but accused LA County supervisors … the DA and the entire democratic party of being racist.

“You know I am a lifelong Democrat.”
The sheriff says that picture that he posted of himself smiling with a beaming Larry Elder is not an endorsement of the Repiublican frontrunner in the election to recall Governor Gavin Newsom.
Villanueva is steaming over the cut of 300 million dollars the Board of Supervisors …money diverted away from jailks and towards civilian mental health programs. And he is still tossing insulting names and denigrating the civilian oversight commissioners … appointed to oversee a sheriff’s department that supervisors feel is out of control and answerable to no one.
Speaking at a rambling Facebook appearance yesterday … the sheriff called his critics in the democratic party racist.

“What I am looking at now is a shambles of a party .. that is a party of excuses ,,, of nepotism … cronyism …of uh… we should call it a party of white privilege.
“But it is not a party that represents the Latino community.”
But he said the image that his office posted …. standing with a beaming Larry Elder … that is not an endorsement of the recall campaign .
