The city of Malibu has filed a lawsuit against the outside government agency that has built a park in the middle of the city … without permission.
This … as the Mountains Recreation Conservation Authority … the M R C A …is suing individual homeowners in the Sycamore Park subdivision for 15 million dollars each over the access issue.
City attorney Christi Hogin says the M R C A did not get the requires Coastal Use Permit from the City of Malibu … when it installed the park at the end of a series of private driveways … in the subdivision where the M R C A bought a vacant lot.
Here’s the city attorney at last night’s city council meeting.

“We were unable to get compliance, there was no application made, so last Friday on behalf of the city, we did sue the M R C A and the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy.
“Today they were served [[[ APPLAUSE]]]].
“Nobody every applauds the attorney.”
But the city attorney also said the Sycamore Park residents are on their own to defend themselves against the M R C A lawsuits against them …
The residents have earlier filed a lawsuit against the M R C A … which is a parks agency from the Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley area that has no direct-elected officials from Malibu or anywhere in Los Angeles County controlling it.
