Two lanes of the 101 are closed … northbound … at Lewis Road in Camarillo this morning.
A truck flipped over.
The truck was empty … the driver escaped.
But it burned.
This was about midway between the bottom of the Camarillo Grade … and the Malibu Costco.
Surface streets in Camarillo and Oxnard just jammed.
We are seeing that traffic is a little bit more heavy on P C H today … as some drivers may be using the coast highway as a detour around the big jam in Camarillo.
The freeway caught fire … it may take into the afternoon hours to repair.
——
In news from just down the coast … Santa Monica Police have arrested a suspect in the brutal baseball bat attacks on four men … three of them left dead … including a fisherman who was taking a nap under the Santa Monica Pier.
47-year-old Ramon Escobar was arrested yesterday … several blocks away from where a homeless man was pummeled with a bat …
This was in an area where transients congregate near Lincoln Boulevard at the Santa Monica Freeway.
Escobar is also wanted for questioning in the disappearance of his sister and brother in law in Houston Texas, police there said.
It’s not known if Escobar is connected to the murder of a homeless person at Venice Boulevard at the 405 underpass.
The victim from yesterday’s baseball bat attack remains unconscious and in critical condition.
