Premier Parks is an Oklahoma company that runs “Wet ‘n’ Wild” water parks in Texas, California, Arizona and Hawaii.

The longtime operator of the pier .. and its iconic ferris wheel… has retired.

The Okalhoma company says it is  likely to invest in upgrading the existing attractions or adding new ones.

But nothing specific to announce yet.

It’s been 5 years since the Springs Fire terrorized Malibu … and burned the western end of the Santa Monica Mountains.

That was the most-recent big brushfire in the Malibu area.

The 24 thousand acre fire started near the 101 Freeway at the Camarillo Grade.

There was an unusual May Santa Ana … it pushed the fire down to the ocean along PCH at Point Mugu.

Ranch houses along Deer Creek Road and Yerba Buena Road … above Neptunes Net … were surrounded by flames.

11 barns or sheds were lost … but no houses.

After the fire … experts said Malibu was very lucky … because firefighters were able to get a good line on the fire’s eastern flank before coastal winds could drive it towards Malibu.

The Springs Fire started five years ago … last night.
