Expect big crowds this weekend … the Malibu Surfing Association Classic is at Surfrider Beach.
It comes the same weekend that the world’s pro surfers iwll be up in the San Joaquin Valley …. competing on artificial waves in a lagoon surrounded by concession stands and cow pastures.

In news from over the hill …. Calabasas just got bigger.
The Acorn news paper reports that the Calabasas City Council has okayed the annexation of property at the Liberty Canyon Road area … on the west side of town.
It includes office buildings at the 101 Freeway Liberty Canyon interchange.
The annexation will generate up to $600,000 in annual tax revenue and add 57 acres of land to the city of Calabasas.
Agoura Hills officials were reportedly not pleased.

If you’re looking for stories about what’s going to happen at next weeks Malibu city Council meeting … forget about it.
The meeting was canceled … and the meeting two weeks after it is delayed two days.
No official word was given.

The campaign to save cougars in the Santa Monica Mountains moves to the Santa Monica Public Library this weekend.
On Sunday … the National Wildlife Federation Will present a talk at the public library in Santa Monica about the #SaveLACougars campaign.
It’s part of the fundraising drive $60 million to build an overpass over the 101 freeway at liberty Canyon.
The star of the story is P-22 … the famous Hollywood cougar.
A cardboard cutout photo of the Hollywood cougar will be posted … for selfie purposes.
The event is geared for adults and kids who want to learn about the wild mountain lions that are prowling the local mountains … and lately the Malibu Park neighborhood.
The cougar talk is a at 2 p-m Sunday at the Santa Monica Public Library … at Fifht Street and Santa Monica Boulevard.
