L A county Sheriff Alex Villanueva has reinstated a sheriff’s deputy who was fired by his predecessor … after c county board found he had stalked and viciously attacked his domestic partner.
The Los Angeles Times reports it appears to be a political payback to a trusted campaign assistant … and assistant who had been fired by the incumbent sheriff … Jim McDonnell.
The deputy … Caren Carl Mandoyan … acted as Villanueva’s driver and campaign consultant during his campaign.
But the L-A Times has uncovered court documents … where a woman alleged that Mandoyan grabbed her by the back of her neck and pushed her face down into a couch ine night.
She swore in a court document obtained by the L-A Times that the deputy ripped off her jeans and squeezed her neck for as long as 30 seconds.
When she escaped and tried to lock herself in a bathroom, Mandoyan kicked in the door and broke it, she claimed in a restraining order request. .
The Times reports that Mandoyan served as a trusted member of Villanueva’s campaign team.
Villanueva has reinstated his campaign worker as a deputy in the Sheriff’s Department … which serves as the City of Malibu’s police department.
The Times could not get a comment from Mandoyan .. his lawyer … or the new sheriff.
The entire article is on the front page of today’s L A Times … we have a link to it on the KBUU website.
