Malibu residents … or at least some of them … we’re either alarmed or annoyed by hovering helicopters over the last three days.
The red helicopter had been rented by Southern California Edison.
High tech cameras and computers were onboard … taking details pictures of overhead power lines.
Why the sudden attention???
Two reasons.
First the California Public Utilities Commission and California legislature have ordered in-depth inspections and repairs for all overhead power poles headlines tier 3 hi-fi risk areas.
Malibu is ground zero for that.
Secondly … the California Public Utilities Commission has given Edison the green light to spend what it takes to do that job.
Edison has established a separate account for the work … it will be fully reimbursed by ratepayers for the extra expenses … and we’ll make it’s customary 11% guaranteed profit on that.

It appears that the annual fourth of July parade on Point Dume may be another victim of the Woolsey Fire.
The parades organizer has told his neighbors at several obstacles may prevent the annual event from taking place this Independence Day.
First and foremost is the fact that debris removal trucks may be operating on the holiday … as crews continue to Holloway burn down houses a rapid schedule.
Road closure permits maybe unavailable.
The traditional staging grounds at the Point Dume elementary school are not available due to construction.
And a large number of Malibu residents have fled the area … some until their houses are rebuilt … some maybe forever.
Residents are still talking about what to do on social media.
Longtime parade organizer Doug Randall says it appears that this years parade will not happen.
But he says … he will be back.
