Defending Malibu against rising seas will cost about 67 million dollars and require two miles of seawalls.

City officials are making plans to take over the Charmlee Park … in the mountains above western Malibu … and also on the agenda are two items about controlling rats and other vermin without poison. Details: https://www.radiomalibu.net/charmlee-takeover-and-vermin/

State contractors have cleared eligible debris from more than 98 percent of the properties affected by the Woolsey and Hill fires.
Crews have removed debris from 910 of the 926 eligible properties in Los Angeles and Ventura counties that are eligible for the state program.
That’s more than 411,636 tons of debris form the Woolsey Fire.
Officials also have submitted final inspection reports to local officials for 639 of the cleared sites in Los Angeles County … plus 78 of the cleared sites in Ventura. That’s 77 percent of the properties in both counties whose owners opted into the program.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning up north.
And Southern California Edison is warning some residents up in the Antelope Valley that their electricity may be turned off due to high winds today. And … Gov. A couple of community calendar notes.
The Malibu Community Swimming Pool .. at Malibu High …will be closed from noon to 3:30 PM today.
That’s due to a scheduled power outage planned by the schooll district.
The pool will close at noon and reopen when power is restored … probably by 3;30.

And tonight … community members are invited to attend an evening of poetry, music and films reflecting on the experience of and recovery from the Woolsey Fire in conjunction with the art exhibition “Radical Beauty, Malibu Rising” on Friday, June 21, 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at City Hall.
The City of Malibu Cultural Arts Commission and Poet Laureate Committee will host the event. Some poetry readings by artists featured in the book “Radical Beauty, Malibu After the Fire,” by former Malibu Poet Laureate Ricardo Means Ybarra.
Immediately following the poetry reading, the City will screen several films in the Malibu Civic Theater. The films, made by community members, cover a variety of topics related to the experience of and recovery from the Woolsey Fire.
Radical Beauty, Malibu Rising is a community-wide collaboration featuring artwork related to the Woolsey Fire.
The exhibition features striking artwork.
The event if from 6 to 8:30 tonight at Malibu City Hall.
The exhibition can be viewed any time when city hall is open.
