Some major surprises … as the semi-final list of candidates for the three Malibu city council seats came out at 5 pm today (Friday).
Haylynn Conrad and Channing Frykman turned in petitions to run against Paul Grisanti, Bruce Silverstein and Steve Uhring.
The three incumbents … plus Conrad … have already qualified. The city clerk was checking Frykman’s petition this evening.
Kevin Shenkman qualified for the ballot … but withdrew his name at the last minute.
And four men who pulled petitions did not turn them in: Yosuf Broachwala, Fred Roberts, Jack Skane, and Dennis Smith.
Who are Haylynn Conrad and Channing Frykman? We’ve been reporting in Malibu for 25 years and we have not heard of either.
Grisanti, Silverstein and Uhring however have extensive public records, which may or may not be to their advantage.
