Written by on July 23, 2018

The city council meets tonight.

They will vote on a 180 Thousand dollar contract with The People Concern for continued homeless outreach efforts.

That’s twice as much as last year … but concrete progress has been made … according to a new report from the city manager.

30 homeless people who used to live in the elements in Malibu have been moved into permanent housing … since 2016.

Another 18 people have been placed in temporary … interim housing.

The city council will get a demonstration from the Ventura County Flood Control District.

How they are using owls and hawks to get rid of burrowing animals …. Instead of poison.

And the City Council will decide on a request from the MRCA to rebuild a beach access staircase just west of Moonshadows restaurant.

Malibu will be treated to another early morning rocket launch … day after tomorrow.

SpaceX is expected to launch a rocket at 4:39 Wednesday morning … from Vandenberg Air Force Base in Santa Barbara County.

The payload will be a set of satellites for Iridium Communications.

Launches like this are generally are visible from Malibu .. arcing out to sea in the western sky. The Wednesday launch may be delayed … it’s been delayed already.

We will keep you posted.

Finally this morning …

Spotted yesterday …. on PCH at Sunset … a Bird scooter … ridden by a 300 pound guy … in a traffic lane.

A line of cars behind him.

Electric scooters … coming your way … to Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

Just sayin’.
