How To Slice Western Malibu Into Three Voting District Slices? See The Maps Here – Shenkman Extracts $233,000 From Camarillo After Winning There

How will Malibu get sliced up into voting districts?
On Friday … the city published four maps that show different ways that the city cna be divided.
These go up for voter discussion … at public hearings this Thursday evening at City Hall … and Friday evening at Malibu High School.
All four potential maps put eastern Malibu on one district … and the area from Winding Way to Malibu Creek in a second district.
The question is what to do with the city’s population center … Point Dume and Malibu Park.
The maps split up Malibu’s two largest neighborhoods in some … shall we say … interesting ways.
One boundary runs right down the middle of the street outside the KBUU studios.
What all this means … a total toss up.
The public hearings again will be Thursday at 6 at City Hall … and Friday at 6 at Malibu High.

Just in case some people in Malibu may get the idea about going to court to fight the demand to split the city into districts …. this news from just over the hill.
Malibu attorney Kevin Shenkman is going to get 233 thousand dollars from the City of Camarillo … from their fruitless attempt to fight his demand for district elections there.
And they have agreed to districts anyway.
Shenkman has been going up and down the state … demanding district election on behalf of the Southwest Voter Registration Education Project, a nonprofit Latino voter participation advocacy group out of San Antonio.
Camarillo fought.
Camarillo lost.
The Ventura County Star reports Shenkman will get a 233 thousand dollar check.
