Got Speed? Traffic Tickets Up 15.8% In Malibu In May

The number of tickets being written in Malibu is going up.

The running total for this year shows a 15 point 8 percent increase in the number of traffic tickets … being handed out by the L A County sheriff

774 traffic tickets for moving violations were written in May … the latest reporting period for L A County sheriff’s deputies.

261 speeding tickets were issued … plus another 43 to drivers going more than 65 miles an hour on P CH in city limits.

What about people driving without front and back license plates?

72 of those.

Burglaries from parked cars along the beaches continues to be a problem .. deputies say.

11 of those incidents of vehicle burglary were reported in May. 

Victims placed their vehicle keys  on their vehicle’s wheel well or tires, rear bumper or the windshield wipers and left to go to the beach/surfing.

The vehicle keys were used to make entry by bad guys.

The were reported near Surfrider Beach … and at the beaches west of Trancas.  Pacific Coast Highway.

House keys … laptops … cell phones … wallets … cash and credit cards … all taken.

Some of the stolen credit cards were used by the unknown suspects to make purchases.

One lucky surfer had his vehicle stolen … it was recovered one half mile away.
