Today is the day that the city Planning Department will hold two Rebuild Workshops and Consultations.
Today’s is aimed at building professionals … like architects and contractors.
On Sunday … a similar event will be geared towards homeowners.
Nearly 500 houses in Malibu were burned by the Woolsey Fire.
And city councilman Mikke Pierson says he’s finding that homeowners at this stage are getting overwhelmed with the details of building a house.
At Monday’s city council meeting … Pierson says he’s seeing people have transitioned from sadness … to shellshocked.
NEWSCART 75042 PIERSON 16 QQQ ITS GOING TO BE HARD.
“There are hundreds of people in Malibu that have probably never built a house, they don’t want to build a house, they didn’t plan to build a house, they don’t have the ability to build a house, and yet they suddenly have to build a house.
“It’s going to be hard.”
Today at 2 … representatives from all the City departments plus the L.A. County Fire Department … Waterworks District 29 and Southern California Edison will be participating in workshops.
They will all be available for one-on-one project-specific consultations.
No appointments are necessary.
Again … today’s session is geared for building professionals … although anyone may attend.
The workshops Sunday are geared for the general public.
