Drive-In Movie Planned For Malibu By Scott Tallal

Some 15 years ago, a small group of Malibu residents helped the City bring outdoor movies to Bluffs Park after Malibu’s only movie theater burned down. Now, that same group is hoping to bring us drive-in movies.
The same company which produces events for Malibu Film Society just received County approval to stage pop-up drive-ins throughout the region. Scott Tallal of Malibu-based The Big Pictures tells K-B-U-U that a permit application is in the works to do an event in Malibu this August.
Thanks to underwriting from the Malibu Foundation, the Film Society will be joining with The Malibu Times and K-B-U-U to set up a giant 40’ screen, with movie audio transmitted wirelessly directly to in-car radios.
Admission will be open to everyone in Malibu but reservations will be required; the exact location and film selection are still in the works but the event has tentatively been scheduled for Friday, August 28. That information will be shared with K-B-U-U once everything is finalized, so stay tuned for more.
