County Adds Debris Removal Seminars Sat In Malibu And Calabasas
Written by 991KBU on December 21, 2018
Confusion and questions.
Owners of the destroyed houses in and near Malibu have dozens of questions about demolishing their houses.
State officials with the CalRecycle program … and county officials from the agency that runs the inspections and the dump … are going to hold workshops tomorrow.
The workshops were scheduled only yesterday.
County officials say they understand the questions.
Explanations will be offered … questions will be taken … on the so-called “free removal” program.
It’s not really free … as people with fire insurance that pays for debris removal will have to forward that payment to the state.
CalRecycle will absorb the cost for underinsured or noninsured people.
Property owners must opt-in to the free debris-removal program by submitting a Right of
Entry (ROE) form.
Workshop leaders will guide affected individuals through the phases of debris removal
and will provide customized support in a small group setting.
The program applies to destroyed residential homes with a maximum of one wall standing.
Partially-destroyed houses … not eligible for the program.
The workshops will be held at 10 in the morning at the Malibu City Hall Council Chambers.
And at 2 P-M at the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District offices … on Las Virgenes Road near Lost Hills Road in Calabasas.
Incidentally … questions and answers are also available form the CalRecycles people still staffing the Disaster Recover Assistance Center next to the Malibu Library …
Also online at lacounty.gov/lacountyrecovers
Or on the phone … at 888-CLEAN-LA (888-253 2652).
Again … the workshops will be at 10 in the morning at the Malibu City Hall Council Chambers.
And at 2 P-M at the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District offices … on Las Virgenes Road near Lost Hills Road in Calabasas.
