County Tries Again To Remove PCH Campers At Topanga Beach

Written by on August 31, 2018

Los Angeles County is coming up with version 2 of an overnight parking ban … for the caravan of ratty looking RVs … converted buses and campers just east of the Malibu city limit.

The P C H shoulder between Pacific Palisades and Malibu has become a ramshackle campground.

Parking used to be banned between midnight and 5 am.

But the signs somehow disappeared  … and the Coastal Commission turned away L A County’s efforts to replace the overnight parking ban.

Now … the county is back with a second plan.

It will institute a 24-hour parking limit … for each vehicle.

Then … no reparking for each individual vehicle … for a 24-hour period.

That means L-A county sheriff’s deputies will have to drive up and down the highway every day … keeping track of license plates.

The signs will say “no parking longer than 24 hours … no reparking for 24 hours thereafter.”

No word if simply moving the RV down the road a bit would be legal.

The matter is inching thru the county bureaucracy … a hearing is scheduled in two weeks in downtown Los Angeles on this.
