County health inspectors have shut down the Malibu West Swim Club … because of repeated COVID 19 mask violations and parties held at the venue.
The club is a homeowners association … of about 90 residences … at Trancas beach.
Malibu mayor Mikke Pierson says the homeowners association that runs the small private beach was raided last weekend.

“We have had a a few residents … let’s just say … that are not so much into observing the mask ordinance and have repeatedly had group gatherings without much social distancing or masks.
“And one of those was happening apparently I wasn’t there when the county health person came down.
“And so the Malibu Beach club is now closed until further notice a hard shutdown.”
The swim club is locked … so is the parking lot.
But the public beach in front of it .. remains open to the public.
The health inspector was acting to enforce the county regulations … approved by the Board of Supervisors.
Malibu’s city government has not enacted any ordinance to put fines behind the county’s order to wear masks in public.
Mayor Mikke Pierson says he will bring a fine ordinance back to the city council in two weeks.
This time … without an urgency clause … meaning it will pass with three votes.
Two weeks ago … the ordinance was defeated when city council members Rick Mullen and Skylar Peak said they agreed with an activist ….
The activist appears at almost every meeting to claim that the dangers of big government are bigger than a disease that is really dangerous only to people with preexisting conditions.
Malibu currently has 103 confirmed cases of the disease … and a death toll of three residents plus at least three more people who worked here.
In the unincorporated Santa Monica Mountains … the case count has creeped up to 115.
