Big Rock Prescribed Burn To Go Before Council

The L A county fire department has scheduled public presentation on its plan to clear brush in the local mountains with a prescribed burn.
KBUU News reported last week that a 400 acre plus fire will be set to remove fuel in an area near Big Rock … in eastern Malibu.
City manager Reva Feldman told the city council last night the city council will get an explanation before the fire is set.

“Our staff has asked the Fire Department to come and discuss this in front of the community, so they’ll be in at the city council meeting on May 13th to discuss this prescribed burn, which would happen in the Big Rock area.”
The prescribed burn is the only one … the only fire reduction project .. planned by the state Cal Fire organization … in Southern California.
The Big Rock prescribed fern was in the works before the Woolsey fire …
Cal fire has a list of 35 fire reduction projects across the state.
They added the big rock project to that list … but have not proposed any new fire prevention projects for anywhere in Los Angeles or Ventura counties.
