As Malibu Considers Overnight Rentals, 4 Shot Plus 1 Killed At B and B Above BH

An Air B and B being rented out as a party house in Los Angeles is the scene of a shooting that has left a 35-year-old woman dead … two others badly wounded . and a total of 5 shot.
The party was being thrown in a short-term rented house …. on Mulholland Drive above Beverly Crest.
A spokesman outside said the party was to celebrate a player recently getting drafted to an NFL team.
The spokesman told CBS-LA … and we quote …
“We have money,” Leggett said. “We are people. This, COVID I mean, is just pushing us out everywhere, and we have nothing, so the only thing we do have is Airbnbs to rent, swimming pools for our kids, to do big things and things of that nature.”
The L A Times reports that LAPD had responded to numerous complaints from neighbors worried about the size of the crowd.
Buses were seen dropping dozens of people off at the home.
A food truck … a DJ .. a huge crowd and very few masks.
But the cops could not enter the property without a search warrant … and they did not have one.
The company that manages the short-term rental property told CBSLA Monday it was unaware of the party … that the party was a serious violation of the rental agreement … and that the tenant was asked to vacate the home.
The City of Malibu is in the midst of enacting Band B ordinances … one long term … one short term … the issue goes up again at the city council meeting next Monday.
