Cal National Guard Shifts From Trump Wall To (Mostly Nor Cal) Fire Clearance

California is bringing home its National Guard from the border …. away from the Trump immigration war … to fight fires.
State Governor Gavin Newsome has ordered his National Guard troops to train on brushfire protection.
Starting in April, 110 California National Guard troops will receive 11 days of training in using shovels, rakes and chain saws to help thin trees and brush, California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection spokesman Mike Mohler said.
They will be divided into five teams that will travel around the state working on forest management projects, mainly clearing or reducing trees and vegetation in an effort to deprive flames of fuel.
The state has a list of 35 High priority thinning projects that it wants to start work on right away.
KBUU news has reported that all but six of them are in Northern California … with the only one such project in Los Angeles Orange or Ventura Counties.
That project is a proposed 400 acre controlled burn near big rock in Malibu.
