Homeowner Watches As County Crews Topple Chimney: ‘One Last Look’

Demolition has begin in earnest on Point Dume and east of Malibu High School … as county crews and contractors begin ripping out fire wreckage.
Large lines of trucks were staging on Busch Drive yesterday … and truck drivers were beign instructed in how to properly apply a “burrito-wrap” around wreckage before it is carted off.
theschool district and constructin workers ar emonitoring air quality .. and the debris will be kept wet to prevent it from blwoing around.
At his house on Merritt … homeowner James Ludwig drove up to take one last look.

REPORTER: “Looks lke they’re ready to start on your house….”
JAMES LUDWIG: “Yes, it does.
“And they have came and talked to me last week to knock down my fireplace and my barbecue, And they were careful … ‘cause I didn’t want to have my outdoor fireplace or the back part of my property disturbed.
“And so they’re very thoughtful of talking me first.”
REPORTER: “And, so, are you encouraged so far on what you are hearing from these guys ?
LUDWIG: “So far, yes, I have. And friends that I have in Ventura had good experience in the Thomas Fire rebuild. I checked with them too. They also used Cal Recycle.
REPORTER: “And so you are up here today because?”
LUDWIG: “I just want to take kinda wanted to take one last look … all around … and see what’s going on…”
Contractors plan to have all the 16 hundred destroyed structures in Malibu .. the mountains and over the hill demolished by the March 15th deadline.
