New Sheriff May Fire Lost Hills Commanders Over Fire Roadblocks

LA County’s new sheriff says the performance of top commanders at the Malibu Lost Hill Sheriff Station during the recent fire … and during the murder investigation last summer in Malibu Canyon … may get them fired.
Malibu residents are generally furious with the hard-line tactics taken by the sheriffs office during the fire emergency … or to be more precise … after the fire emergency.
Unyielding enforcement of the evacuation barricades, long after the fire was put out … included parts of Malibu that were not affected by the fire… have been blasted.
Even some City Councilman have publicly question why supplies were not allowed past roadblocks.
Countywide … the sheriff has asked for 500 top lieutenants and captains to hand in their insignia … and face review of their employment status.
Villanueva views it simply.
We spoke to the sheriff in East Los Angeles yesterday …. and asked him … are heads rolling at Lost Hills because of the roadblocks???

“Thats what we are going to have to take a look at.
“We’re looking at the after action report from the response to the Malibu Canyon fires, the issue with the shootings, all of those.
“But we have to put those in the order of priority of the things that we are trying to handle, and that we’ll have it stay also.
REPORTER: “ what about the evacuation orders and the strictness there was a lot of criticism about that?”
SHERIFF: that is part of our after action ripped you review of everything that happened and I response to the fires. We want to see what we did wrong and what we did right.”
The L A county sheriff’s commanders in Malibu Lost Hills reportedly rejected requests from the city to open sections of Malibu … after the fire.
They are also blamed … fairly or not … for the rigid enforcement of the roadblocks … which ended up preventing gas food water and generators from reaching Malibu immediately after the fire.
Some supplies were brought in by boat.
Eventually … fire supplies were brought in under sheriff’s department escort … thru the roadblocks.
But that may have been too little … too late. The new sheriff says he was elected as an outsider … to shake up the department after decades of insider mismanagement.
Villanueva views it simply.
