Private Club To Get New Rocks To Save Beach

Written by on December 10, 2018

The Bel Air Bay Club is going before the California Coastal Commission this week … to rebuild its two rock jetties.

The rocks are technically called groins … they were built in 1947 to capture sand at the private beach, just down the coast from Malibu.

About 93 tons of rock that have been knocked around by wave activity.

And the Bel Air Bay Club wants to import 531 tons of rockto shore them up.

Coastal Commission staff are endorsing the proposal … they say it will widen the public beach.

The matter goes afraid vote at the coastal commission meeting on Wednesday in Newport Beach.

And then on Friday … the coastal commission will get an update on its controversial plan to close Hollister Ranch to Visitors.

Ww will have more on that later
