College Student Loses Wheels In Malibu Cyn

Written by on August 29, 2018

A college student from Cal State Northridge is talking to the L A T-V stations …. about losing his car to a giant boulder that fell on it in Malibu Canyon.

Jesse Muns and his girlfriend Michelle Monge were headed for the beach Monday when the boulder came down.

The rock … about as big as a kitchen stove … hit the front right headlight … and the woman hit her head on the center console as the car came to a sudden stop.

The rockfall was -not- in the center of the canyon … where the road is pinned to a cliff and some steel netting has been installed to try to catch smaller rocks.

Rather … it came down a steep … brushy hillside.

Malibu Canyon Road was built in the late 1940s … and several miles of the road are susceptible to rocks rolling down the hill.

This rockslide did not come immediately after a fire or rainstorm … and it came one day before the 4 point 4 magnitude earthquake …

As for Muns …  the college student had minimum insurance … his car was totaled … and there’s a go fund me website set up if anyone wants to chip in to help the poor guy out.

We have a link at the KBUU website.
