MRCA Attacks Sycamore Park Residents And City At Coastal Meeting
Written by 991KBU on August 10, 2018
An M R C A lawyer took off after Sycamore Park yesterday… and attacked the residents who are trying to keep a public park out of their driveway.
Sycamore Park residnets have been sued by the M R C A for 10 million dollars each … over their efforts to maintain a private access road that they built as a private road.
The M R C A has purchased a lot in the subdivision … and claims that gives them the right to open the privately-built, privately maintained road to the general public.
Sycamore Park out up a guard shack … hired a guard … and the lawsuits flew.
Eric Edmunds, lawyer for the MRCA … says it’s a matter of the well-connected residents of Sycamore Park … who don’t want the public to come into their community.”
ERICEDMUNDS BBBB QQQ: COME INTO THEIR COMMUNITY,
“In June, your faithful and vigilant staff wrote a letter to Malibu, informing the city that this is a violation of the Coastal Act, and that the residents and the city must obtain a CDP and enforce the law.
“But the City of Malibu blew you off.
“On July 6th they worte back to the Coastal Commission, that they don’t think this blockage of Via Escondido is a violation of the Coastal Act, or requires a CDP.
“They are turning a blind eye and looking the other way.”
And the MRCA attorney continued to charge the city with selective enforcement.
ERICEDMUNDS CCCC :29 QQQ: AND LOOKING INTO IT.
“We put up a picnic table and trash can on the two parcels that we own.
“Believe it or not, uh, folks, Malibu has now sued us to remove these two items, as well as a brown sign we are required to post by by law.
We need your and your staff’s assistance, to secure public access to important coastal and trail assets here.”
FEMALE VOICE: “Thank you very much, and we are aware of it, and looking into it.”
Again, the voice of Coastal Committee Chairwoman Dayna Bochco … at the end.
No Sycamore Park residents were present at the Redondo Beach meeting … the item was not on the agenda … the government employees snuck the matter in during the call to the public.
It is not clear if that was legal … as government officials are not allowed to bring up topics unless they are on the agenda.
M R C A is a government agency … Malibu was not on the agenda … Malibu residents were not given an opportunity to respond.
The Coastal Commission meeting continues today … in Redondo Beach.
