“My dad was the best man I knew.”
Those are words from Alexis Artes … who lost her father to a traffic crash on Pacific Coast Highway at Trancas last Friday.
Rick Artes … age 60 … will be buried later this week.
Alexis tells us … her dad worked with his father in a company called RPA construction.
Her words now…
“My dad has worked in Malibu for over 30 years and made many friends and done countless jobs.
“How do we put into words to show the world who wasn’t privileged enough to have known you, how special you were. “
“So many things to so many people.
:A funny Canadian who made us all laugh,
“Avid ducks fan, son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandpa, friend and so much more.
“Your positive outlook on life was infectious to everyone around you.
“You were one of good guys and now the world is a little darker without you.”
End quote from the Alexis Artes … daughter of crash victim Rick Artes.
His son survived the crash …airlifted out with injuries to his hip bone and foot.
There’s a fundraiser for the family … We have the link on the KBUU Facebook and newswire pages.
Mike Hollinrake … a 48 year old malibu native who lived in his van … was killed in the wreck.
Witnesses say he was drunk or zonked on drugs before the crash … and was spepding at 100 miles an hour on the wrong side of the highway … when his van slammed into the work truck driven by Artes.
